Virginia Announces 2022-23 Track and Field Schedules

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia’s Director of Track and Field and Cross Country, Vin Lananna announced on Tuesday (Sept. 13) the program’s 2022-23 indoor and outdoor track and field schedules.

The indoor schedule features 11 regular season meets prior to the ACC Indoor Championships in Louisville, Ky. and the NCAA Indoor Championships in Albuquerque, NM Virginia’s outdoor schedule features four meets at Lannigan Field as well a trip to the Texas Relays and a second consecutive appearance at the Penn Relays.

Virginia will open the indoor track and field season in Lynchburg, Va. when the Cavaliers travel to the Liberty Kickoff on Dec. 1-2.

Following the winter break, the Cavaliers will make consecutive trips to Blacksburg, Va. to compete in the Virginia Tech Invitational (Jan. 13-14) followed by the Hokie Invitational (Jan. 20-21).

After a trip to State College, Pa. for the Penn State National (Jan. 27-28), the weekend of Feb. 3-4 will see Cavalier athletes head to Boston, Mass. for the Bruce Lehane Scarlet & White Invitational, the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, NC for the JDL Camel City Invitational, and Blacksburg, Va. for the Doc Hale Virginia Tech Elite Meet.

The weekend of Feb. 10-11 features a pair of meets as the Cavaliers split up to take on the Tiger Paw Invitational in Clemson, SC as well as the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational in Lynchburg, Va.

For the final weekend ahead of the postseason (Feb. 17-18), Virginia will be back in Blacksburg, Va. for the Virginia Tech Challenge while the DMR squads head to Winston-Salem, NC for the JDL DMR Invitational.

The ACC Indoor Championships will be held in Louisville, Ky. on Feb. 23-25 ​​while the NCAA Indoor Championships will take place in Albuquerque, NM on March 9-11.

The Cavaliers will begin their outdoor season in Raleigh, NC for the Raleigh Relays hosted by NC State on March 23-25.

The following week, Virginia will get an early peek at the setting for the NCAA Championships when the team travels to Austin, Texas for the Texas Relays from March 29-April 1. The Cavaliers will also host the Virginia Triangular at Lannigan Field on April 1 .

After a trip to Athens, Ga. for the Spec Towns Invitational (April 7-8), The Cavaliers will hold the Virginia Grand Prix on April 15, followed by the Virginia Challenge on April 21-22.

For the final week of the regular season, Virginia will travel to historic Franklin Field for its second-consecutive appearance in the prestigious Penn Relays on April 27-29. The following day (April 30), the Cavaliers will host the Virginia High Performance at Lannigan Field as a final tune-up ahead of the championship season.

The Cavaliers will return to where they started the season on May 11-13 for the ACC Championships in Raleigh, NC The NCAA East Regional Preliminary will be hosted by North Florida in Jacksonville, Fla. on May 24-27. while the season will conclude with the NCAA Championships in Austin, Texas (June 7-10).
