In the Group H fixture of FIFA World Cup 2022, Uruguay will take on South Korea at the Education City Stadium in Al Rayyan, Qatar on Thursday (November 24). Uruguay is ranked 15th in the men’s team FIFA ranking. The South American will likely end their drought of FIFA World Cup triumph this year, the host and the winner of the inaugural FIFA World Cup in 1930 last won the FIFA World Cup trophy in 1950. The Latin American side is a mix of young players and veterans with the likes of Real Madrid’s 24-year-old midfielder Federico Valverde and former Barcelona striker Luis Saurez. La Celeste’s side has appeared for the 14th time in the FIFA World Cup and they lost in the quarterfinals of the last FIFA World Cup against champions France by a 2-0 scoreline.

South Korea captain and Tottenham Hotspur forward Son Heung-min is fit and will be in action against former champions Uruguay. The Asian side in the last FIFA World Cup was knocked out in the group stages, but they won against defending champion Germany. Paulo Bento’s players won their last match against Iceland in International Friendlies by a 1-0 margin. The Reds reached the semifinals of the FIFA World Cup 2002 in which they were co-hosts with Japan but eventually lost against Germany in the semifinals by a 0-1 margin.
