Welcome to the coverage of the 2nd fixture of the 26th October of the Pro Kabaddi League 2022 between Dabang Delhi and Bengal Warriors at the Shree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru on Wednesday.
Scores read: Delhi vs Bengal
AND THAT’S THAT. Bengal Warriors break a two-game losing streak but, more importantly, Dabang Delhi falls to its second loss on the trot. All thanks for a superb defensive show from Bengal. 18 tackle points for the Bengal defense. Vaibhav and Girish Ernak raking in the points. Naveen got a super 10 but as a unit, Bengal outdid Delhi. Despite the loss, Delhi is still on top of the table in PKL 9.
30-35 It looked like Manjeet has managed to push out that right corner but Manjeet runs in to the other end only to be thumped down by Girish Ernak. High five for the defender.
30-34 Ajinkya Kapre is brought down on a do-or-die raid. Four points, that difference is. Delhi has a way in now
29-34 Ajinkya Kapre runs the clock down in his raid. But Manjeet has snuck a point right after to take out Vaibhav Garje.
28-34 Manjeet gets the bonus.
27-34 Balaji holds Naveen’s thighs and brings him down to revive his partner, Vaibhav. Good work there.
One bonus, one touch point, that’s enough, says Krishan Kumar Hooda.
27-33 POINT TO MANINDER and he’s one away from a super 10 as he takes out Vijay Kumar.
27-32 ERROR. Vaibhav Garje gifts Manjeet a point by taking him on hastily and close to the midline. His first unsuccessful tackle of the point.
Under five minutes left in this game.
26-32 Balaji and Ashish Narwal both get sent to the bench after the former Delhi raider dashes off the mat.
25-31 Maninder is too deep in the Delhi half and is stuck and pulled back further by Krishan Dhull. That revives Naveen Kumar.
24-31 Ashu Malik is taken down as his dubki fails and tangles in the right chain. Maninder Singh with the tackle point actually. HOW ABOUT THAT
24-30 Ajinkya Kapre is brought down but this was a close effort! He took Krishan Dhull so far and that would have been dangerous for Delhi
5 and a half minutes off the mat for Naveen so far.
23-30 Vaibhav Garje is in a mood today! He brings down Manjeet and Delhi’s consistent raider seems to lost form in the last few games.
23-29 Naveen kept tempting Girish Ernak by attempting toe touches from under his nose but he gets the last laugh with an ankle hold and an assist from Balaji, it seems like.
23-28 Vicious ankle hold as Shrikant Jadhav is brought down by Vishal. That revives Naveen.
22-28 GIRISH ERNAK gets a massive hold on Ashu’s right ankle and brings him down instantly. Delhi seems to have a clear bonus. Bengal reviewed against the bonus, which seems wholly unnecessary now given they have the tackle point on Ashu. Neither team has a review now.
Girish Ernak is back and Surender Nada is off as there’s no Naveen on the mat. How about this for playing to match-ups
21-27 OH WHAT DO WE HAVE HERE! Vaibhav Garje stops Naveen Kumar and helps his team pull him back but he’s gone out of bounds so he will sacrifice his place on the mat too.
20-26 Bonus for Maninder. He’s keeping the scoreboard ticking, one way or another.
20-25 Bonuses for Ajinkya Kapre and Naveen.
19-24 Vaibhav Garje returns the favor by bringing Manjeet down. Good work from Bengal to keep up with Delhi’s ploys.
19-23 Mighty good back hold for Maninder as Vijay Kumar stops the strong raider in his tracks.
18-23 Naveen gets the bonus but it’s Ajinkya Kapre again who sends Naveen out of the mat to trigger the ALL OUT.
17-20 AJINKYA KAPRE! SUPER RAID. THREE MEN TAKEN OUT. Delhi reduced to one man. Naveen Kumar.
17-17 Maninder Singh takes out Vishal while Naveen gets a regulation bonus
16-16 NAVEEN EQUALISES WITH A DUBKI. Vaibhav Garje, Balaji D again falling to the Delhi captain. Flawless agility from the young raider.
14-16 Naveen begins the second half with a bonus while Shrikant Jadhav follows it up with a lightning fast raid down the right flank to pick out Ravi Kumar
HALF TIME: We came in wanting a raiders’ battle but its Bengal’s defense that he stepped up and put on a show. Bengal is a thinking unit and has assessed its mistakes on the fly but the one thing they have consistently failed to do is support Maninder and revive him quickly.
13-15 Bengal is keeping things simple and running the clock down to play on the do-or-die raid. Kapre took Maninder’s place in Bengal’s do-or-die raid and Manjeet comes in for Naveen for Delhi’s do-or-die raid and is brought down
13-14 Ajinkya Kapre comes in for the do-or-die. So Bengal saved Maninder. Ravi Kumar brings down Kapre though. The gap between these two teams just the one point now.
12-14 Shubham Shinde brings down Ashu Malik
Girish Ernak is being more cautious now. Not falling for Naveen’s charms and gifting points. That’s a good sign.
12-13 Maninder comes in with a running hand touch on Krishan Dhull on the right.
12-12 SUPER TACKLE FROM BENGAL. Manjeet is brought down by a smart chain tackle to bring Maninder back.
Maninder off the mat for five minutes now.
12-10 Deepak Niwas Hooda is brought down right near the midline on the right. This brings back Naveen for Delhi. Where is Mani? On the bench as he does not have a Manjeet or Ashu to revive him.
11-10 Naveen is off the mat again as Bengal puts in a brilliant one SUPER TACKLE. Brought down on the left right next to the midline. Clinical. Points to Vaibhav Garje.
11-8 Oh this is not good. Naveen has been revived. Shrikant Jadhav gets his position and direction all wrong here as Vijay Kumar does the work.
10-8 Girish Ernak runs in from the left and dashes Naveen Kumar out of the mat. He sacrifices himself too in the process. Worthy sacrifice here?
9-7 Maninder now has to head to the bench as Ashu Malik blocks a very awkward dubki attempt.
8-7 Looks like Naveen has not managed a touch but he’s pushed a defender out of bounds. Shubham Shinde the man to head to the bench.
7-7 TRADING PUNCHES. Maninder takes out Ravi Kumar
7-6 Do or die raid. Ashu Malik comes in for Delhi. Bengal is hasty and we see Vaibhav Garje putting in a poorly executed ankle hold. Point gifted.
6-6 Manjeet seems to have gone back without a bonus. Delhi reviews. Manjeet’s leg has crossed the backline with the front foot in the air. Should be a bonus. BUT WAIT. Referee says REVIEW UNSUCCESSFUL. Wonder why this did not work out. More importantly, Delhi has lost its review.
6-6 EVEN STEVEN! Maninder has taken out Vijay Kumar.
6-5 TWO POINTS FOR NAVEEN. He is too quick! The right chain comes for him and he employs the Dubki, which Pardeep Narwal has apparently taught him and takes those two points. Vaibhav Garje and Balaji D head to the bench
4-5 Shrikant Jadhav forces Krishan out of bounds.
4-4 Girish Ernak falls to Naveen yet again. An exciting match-up this but has been going Naveen’s way so far.
3-4 MY WORD! That was close. Manjeet could have gone away with so many points but Manjeet gets his hand to the midline but it doesn’t cross it. Bengal sees this as quickly tugs him back. How about that!
2-3 Deepak Niwas Hooda runs towards the left but Ashu Malik holds his legs and twists him to bring him down.
1-3 HOW IS THIS FOR A RESPONSE! Maninder gets THREE people in his very first raid of the game. Ravi Kumar, Vishal, Vijay Kumar the victims of this massive super raid.
1-0 Naveen gets going right away and removes Girish Ernak
Bengal has won the toss and chosen court.
Maninder has been quiet in the last two games but knowing him, he must be itching to get going. Can he help the Warriors register a much-needed win today?
